Rabbi Dr. Leo Jung, rabbi of the Jewish Center on West 86th Street in Manhattan, and professor at Yeshiva College, participated in an international Rosh Hashanah radio program in September 1935. The program, entitled the “Synagogue Council Greeting to the World,” was broadcast on radio station WJZ. It included greetings from the President of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Governor of New York, Herbert H. Lehman, as well as a performance by the Jewish Ministers Cantors Association, and a tribute for the 15th yahrzeit, the anniversary of the death, of noted Jewish philanthropist Jacob H. Schiff. Leo Jung memorialized Jacob Schiff, stating that his life was a “symphony of goodness,” an apt reference for a musical program.
